North Darfur Governor Praises “Takaya” Support Program and Calls for More Assistance

The acting Governor of North Darfur State, Al-Hafiz Bakhit Mohamed, announced the start of the seventh phase of the humanitarian assistance program aimed at supporting food “Takaya” in the city of El Fasher and alleviating the humanitarian suffering of displaced persons and residents affected by the war and the unjust siege imposed on the city by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia.

In press statements on Monday, the governor affirmed his government’s determination to continue efforts to provide further support and humanitarian assistance to those targeted, as well as to enhance basic services such as water, health, and others.

Bakhit directed the State Ministry of Welfare and Social Development and the Higher Humanitarian Aid Committee to immediately begin implementing the seventh phase of the humanitarian assistance program for families in residential neighborhoods and IDP centers in El Fasher, with an additional support amounting to four billion Sudanese pounds, praising the assistance provided by the General Secretariat of the Zakat Chamber in support of the takaya.

The governor expressed his thanks and appreciation for charitable initiatives and food takaya for their commendable efforts in providing humanitarian services to families and displaced persons in residential neighborhoods and IDP centers, also saluting all benefactors inside and outside the country for their effective contributions and continuous support for charitable initiatives and food takaya, which enabled them to implement many humanitarian programs that met the needs of families.

The governor reiterated the state government’s determination to continue supporting the Battle of Dignity until all Darfur territory is liberated and security and stability are achieved for citizens.
