New Pakistani Ambassador Affirms His Country’s Support for Sudan

Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, today received at the Republican Palace the credentials of Pakistan’s Ambassador to Sudan, Atif Sharif, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohieddin Salem.

The Pakistani ambassador expressed his pride at meeting the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and presenting his credentials, noting that he conveyed to General Al-Burhan the greetings of Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari.

He highlighted the historic relations between the two countries, affirming Pakistan’s support for Sudan during this critical stage in its history, with the aim of achieving peace, stability, and national reconciliation.

He noted that Pakistan supports the efforts of the Sudanese government to end the war and alleviate the resulting humanitarian suffering.

Ambassador Atif said his country looks forward to deepening cooperation with Sudan in the economic, industrial, and educational sectors, as well as other areas.
