Manslaughters in Zamzam, Al Fashir and Um Kadada… Human Consciousness Outcry in Face of the RSF

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon – Talal Ismail
The killing and wounding of hundreds in an attack by the Rapid Support Militia on Al Fashir, the capital of the Darfur region, western Sudan, and the bloodshed in the Zamzam camp for displaced people and um Kaddada, have spurred wide international, regional and internal condemnations.
These brutal attacks by the militia awakened the human conscience, amid renewed demands to classify the Rapid Support Militia as a “terrorist organization”, and to hold accountable the militia leaders who did not comply with the UN Security Council Resolutions, that urged them to stop targeting of civilians and attacking them via drones and random shelling.
The Governor of the Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minawi, has shown his despair regarding the international community’s response to his repeated appeals for the protection of civilians in Darfur, and has posted, via his account on the X platform, an appeal to the “heroic youth of Darfur” urging them to “move immediately to lift the siege on the city of Al Fashir and the locality of Um Kadada, to gather our strength and will and to show the world that we have the ability to change our reality.”

Ethnic Cleansing
For its part, the Sudan Liberation Movement – led by Mustafa Tambour has condemned in the strongest terms the heinous crime committed by the Rapid Support Forces Militia against innocent displaced civilians in Zamzam camp in North Darfur state, killing a number of unarmed civilians.
According to a statement seen by the “Sudanhorizon” website it has stressed that the: “The movement confirms that what happened represents a full-fledged crime of ethnic cleansing, aimed at emptying the region of its original population components, in flagrant violation of all international conventions and norms.”
The statement pointed out that the international community has not yet fulfilled its legal and moral responsibility in classifying the Rapid Support Militia as a terrorist organization, a failure that has encouraged the RSF militias to continue committing more atrocities and violations against civilians in Darfur and other areas of Sudan.

Liquidation of civilians
The “Mashad Observatory” has meanwhile expressed deep shock and condemnation of the horrific massacre committed in the city of Um Kadada in North Darfur state, which resulted in the cold-blooded liquidation of more than 56 civilians, in addition to injury of more than 17 others, including women and children, in a brutal attack that is one of the most heinous forms of gross violations of human rights, and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions that guarantee the protection of civilians at times of armed conflict.
The Observatory, according to a statement seen by Sudanhorizon Website, what happened in Um Kadada amounts to a crime of systematic ethnic cleansing, as it came in the context of a repeated attack that is the third of its kind against the residents of the region, in the absence of any regular military presence that carries out the duty of protection. This, it added, indicates the deliberate targeting of civilians by the Rapid Support Forces in flagrant violation of all international conventions and standards.
For its part, the health sector of the Future Movement for Reform and Development has condemned in the strongest terms the heinous crime committed by the Rapid Support Militia on Friday morning, which was the assassination of Dr. Noureddine Adam Abdel Shafe, Medical Director of Um Kaddada Hospital, while performing his humanitarian professional duty inside the hospital.
A statement by the movement said: “Targeting medical personnel while they are in their positions performing their noble humanitarian mission is a full-fledged war crime and a flagrant violation of all international conventions, and confirms the criminal nature of this militia, which has made terrorizing civilians and violating sanctities a method.

Unionist Party
The Democratic Unionist Party has meanwhile expressed its strong condemnation of the terrorist attack launched by the rebel Rapid Support Militia on the Zamzam camp for displaced people in North Darfur state, describing it as an attack that reflects the heinousness of the crimes committed by this militia against innocent civilians.
It further added that “some shocking reports indicate that this attack has resulted in hundreds of martyrs and large numbers of wounded residents of the camp, in a horrific crime that shakes the human conscience, and reveals the extent to which this militia disregards the lives of innocent and unarmed civilians.”
The statement, signed by party spokesman Omar Khalafallah Youssef, said the call to “remove the displaced” is nothing but an attempt to justify forced displacement and cover up the crimes committed by the militia against these civilians.

Grave concern:
The General Secretariat of the National Umma Party said that it is following with great concern the escalation of violence and the deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation in North Darfur State, especially after the renewed bloody battles inside the Zamzam camp for displaced persons, which resulted in civilian casualties, including members of the medical staff working in camp.
The statement added: “The National Umma Party condemns in the strongest terms these heinous violations that affect innocent civilians in Zamzam camp, Abu Shouk camp, and the city of Al Fashir, and holds the Rapid Support Forces morally and legally responsibility for the continued targeting of civilians, and demands that they immediately stop military operations in the vicinity of camps and residential areas, fulfill their obligations to protect civilians, and open safe humanitarian corridors to deliver urgent aid to those affected.”
