The Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army and Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, called on all Sudanese capable of carrying weapons to join the fight against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, declaring his refusal to enter into any truce before the militia is eliminated.
Addressing a gathering of residents in the village of Al-Sareeha in Gezira State on Friday, Al-Burhan stressed that “the Rapid Support Forces and those who assisted them have no place in Sudan.”
He added, “There is no truce and no discussion with the Rapid Support Forces,” before stipulating that the militia’s forces must first be assembled in one location and lay down their weapons as a precondition for negotiations.
Al-Burhan continued, “We tell the mediators that dialogue will take place only after the rebels lay down their weapons… We will continue fighting until we take justice from the Rapid Support Forces and eliminate them.”

A Quartet initiative comprising the United States, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates proposed on 12 September a three-month humanitarian truce, to be followed by a ceasefire agreement between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.
Al-Burhan said that “all Sudanese have been scorched by the fire of war, which has left devastating impacts after the rebellion looted, abused, and killed Sudanese citizens.”
He noted that they are determined to end the rebellion, pointing out that citizens reject staying in RSF-controlled areas and instead seek refuge in locations under army control.
