Sudan Opens Doors for Pakistani Investments in the Power Sector

Sudan’s Minister of Energy, Al-Mutasim Ibrahim Ahmed, on Tuesday invited Pakistani companies to invest in Sudan’s electricity and petroleum sectors.

The minister met at his office in Khartoum with a representative of Iskan Com, in the presence of the management and leadership of the National Energy and Engineering Company Limited.

During the meeting, the Minister of Energy outlined investment opportunities available in Sudan’s electricity and oil sectors and reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to provide investment facilitation and support.

He noted that the relevant sectors had suffered extensive damage and that significant opportunities exist for rebuilding electricity infrastructure, including power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy projects, and the supply of transformers and related equipment.

For his part, the head of the Pakistani delegation, Shafoat Mehmood, reviewed the company’s technical capabilities and areas of operation. He explained that the company operates in several countries and has major projects in Saudi Arabia.

Mehmood expressed the company’s willingness and interest in investing in Sudan’s electricity sector, particularly in power distribution and transmission, as well as in the supply of transformers and associated equipment. He also highlighted the company’s existing cooperation with the National Energy and Engineering Company in transformer supply and its interest in manufacturing electrical components locally within Sudan.
