Sudanese Ambassador to Angola Presents Credentials to President Lourenço

Today (Thursday), Sudan’s Ambassador to Angola, Abdul Raouf Amer, presented his credentials to Angolan President João Lourenço, based in Luanda.
President Lourenço welcomed Ambassador Amer and expressed his interest in understanding the situation in Sudan. He noted that he will assume the presidency of the African Union at its upcoming session in February of next year and promised to outline a plan to address the situation in Sudan in a way that ensures its safety and unity.
The President also expressed hope for a positive breakthrough before he takes over the African Union presidency. He emphasized his deep concern for the situation in Sudan, including its leadership.
For his part, Ambassador Abdul Raouf expressed Sudan’s appreciation for President Lourenço’s efforts and his role in promoting peace in several African countries, including Sudan, through his membership in the African Union’s five-member committee.
Ambassador Amer briefed the President on recent developments, including the practices of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, the violations, massacres, and forced displacement committed against unarmed civilians, especially in northern and eastern Al-Jazira State and the Darfur States. He also highlighted the continued support for the militia from the United Arab Emirates, as well as the recruitment of mercenaries from various countries in the region through Chad, which poses a significant threat to the countries in the area.
