For the first time since the war broke out in mid-April 2023, Sudanese Armed Forces advancing from a military base west of the Nile River have linked up with Signal Corps units in Khartoum North and the General Command in the eastern part of the capital, Khartoum.
According to field sources speaking to Sudanhorizon news, the army successfully connected its military units after gaining control of Khartoum North and advancing through the Kadro axis and Sarkab base in Karari.
The sources also revealed that the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, arrived in Al-Jaili, north of the capital, after the army secured the area. From there, he inspected his forces that had recently achieved significant victories against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
In recent months, the Sudanese Armed Forces have achieved successive victories over the rebel RSF militia. These include reclaiming the strategic Jebel Moya area in Sennar State, central Sudan, and liberating the towns of Suki, Dinder, and Singa. Around two weeks ago, the army then advanced north to liberate Wad Madani, the capital of Al-Jazirah State.
In Khartoum State, the army has expanded its areas of control across Omdurman, Khartoum, and Khartoum North, where it continues to make steady advances against RSF forces.
These developments mark a significant shift in the military landscape, with the Sudanese Armed Forces regaining critical territory and reinforcing their presence in key strategic locations.
