National Economic Management Committee Forms Unit to Manage Exchange Rate Issues

The National Economic Management Committee Held its 3rd meeting on Monday , chaired by Prime Minister Kamil Idris.
Dr. Garaham Abdel Qader, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism, explained in a press statement that the meeting discussed the erosion of the national currency’s exchange rate and its impact on people’s livelihoods.
Complaints have been mounting in Sudan regarding the depreciation of the national currency against a basket of foreign currencies, leading to a dramatic increase in market prices that has severely limited citizens’ purchasing power.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information stated that the committee’s decisions included forming a unit to manage handle the rate issues and their effects. This cell will be chaired by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, and will include representatives from several relevant agencies to provide urgent and effective solutions. He added that the decisions focused on increasing production and productivity in the mining, agriculture and livestock sectors, and encouraging manufacturing industries that add value to exports and cover the shortage in imports, in addition to revising companies, business names and commercial agencies, ensuring their existence, updating their data and deleting those that do not meet the required data.
