Operational Improvements at the Salha Water Treatment Plant in Khartoum

The Khartoum State Water Corporation has reaffirmed its commitment to providing water to residents of the state and addressing any challenges of water scarcity through the implementation of urgent well-drilling projects, in addition to ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency of existing water treatment plants, thereby contributing to a more steady water supply.

In a press statement issued on Monday, the Corporation’s Director General, Mohamed Ahmed Awad, explained that an engineering team from the Corporation carried out operational improvements at the Salha Water Treatment Plant in Omdurman, Khartoum State. These improvements included the installation of two surface pumps with a capacity of 1,250 cubic meters per hour. Work is currently underway to install a third pump with the same specifications at the plant’s intake. Furthermore, internal improvements were implemented to maintain and rehabilitate units A and B at the plant.

He noted that the rehabilitation included the maintenance of five pumps at unit A and two pumps at unit B, and work is ongoing to rehabilitate and maintain the third pump at unit B. The director of the authority praised the community effort of the citizens of the Salha area in the southern countryside, stressing the authority’s continued efforts to improve water services in the region.
