Saudi academic and writer Mohammed bin Dalim Al-Qahtani has called on Saudi Arabia and Sudan to “move from traditional cooperation to an integrated economic partnership that achieves a win-win equation,” following the signing on Monday of an agreement establishing the Saudi-Sudanese Coordination Council.

The Professor of International Management, Human Resources, and Projects at King Faisal University said in a post on his X account on Tuesday: “We begin with the Red Sea Economic Corridor: Jeddah ⇄ Port Sudan ⇄ the Sudanese and African hinterland.”

He explained that the proposal would involve “a regular maritime route for containers and Ro-Ro vessels, a logistics zone, grain silos, cold-storage facilities, and food processing,” linking Saudi investments with Sudan’s resources in agriculture, livestock, gold and minerals, and renewable energy.

The writer added: “Saudi Arabia has the capital, technology, market, and logistics expertise, while Sudan has the land, water, resources, and strategic location.”

He concluded: “Sudan needs productive investment more than aid, while Saudi Arabia is not looking only for resources, but for long-term strategic partnerships.”

“This is how we create a win-win situation and transform the Red Sea from a space separating the two countries into an economic bridge connecting them through 2040,” he said.
