First of its kind in Sudan: Al-Sadafin Center for Renewable Energy Launches Training Program
Omdurman – Sudanhorizon
Al-Sadafin Center for Renewable Energy launched its training program this Wednesday with the opening of a course on “Photovoltaic Solar Energy Systems Engineering” at the Faculty of Computer Science, Karari University – Banat.
Dr. Jaafar Ahmed Khalifa, the center’s owner, told Sudanhorizon that the course targets engineers interested in working professionally in the field of solar energy, based on the standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
He added that the center’s training package consists of five programs: “Solar Energy Systems Engineering”, targeting engineers and technical engineers; “Biomass Energy and Biodigester”, targeting engineers; “Renewable Energy Solutions”, targeting engineers, policymakers, and service and procurement offices in government institutions; “Official Decision Support Program Regarding Solar Energy Projects”, targeting policymakers and government service offices and committees; and “Electric Vehicle Engineering and Hydrogen Cell Trucks”, targeting engineers and technicians.
The training program was designed to address shortcomings in the installation and operation of solar energy systems, which have become apparent following Sudan’s rapid expansion in this sector over the past two years.
The opening ceremony is being attended by the Secretary General of the Engineering Council, the Secretary General of the National Training Council, the Director of Karari University, the Dean of the University’s Faculty of Computer Science, and a number of other interested parties.
“Al-Sadafin Center,” with its program, vision, and mission, is the first of its kind in the country, and its management hopes to develop it into an academic institution in the near future.
