Al-Burhan Addresses Worshippers in Omdurman, Calls for Rejecting Hate Speech

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, performed Friday prayers today at the Sheikh Mohammed Khair Mosque in the Al-Fatehab neighborhood in Omdurman. He addressed worshippers after the الصلاة, urging them to reject regionalism, racism, and hate speech.

Al-Burhan stated that the message of the mosque calls for solidarity, unity, and cohesion, adding that the state is committed to rebuilding and supporting mosques so they can fulfill their role in spreading tolerant teachings and reviving religious scholarship.

The Sovereignty Council chairman praised those responsible for the Sheikh Mohammed Khair Mosque, highlighting its significant contributions to promoting the teachings of the Qur’an, Islamic education, and the values of social solidarity and compassion among Sudanese people, according to a statement issued by the Transitional Sovereignty Council’s media office.

He emphasized the importance of brotherhood and mutual affection among different social components, and the rejection of division and fragmentation, in order to build cohesive communities free from regionalism, tribalism, and racism.

He added that this is the message of mosques in Sudan, commending their role in strengthening values of compassion and fraternity, and noting their major contribution to social cohesion during times of hardship and crisis.
