CBoS Proposes Strategic Initiative to Establish Supreme Council for Exports

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

The Central Bank of Sudan has proposed a strategic initiative to establish a Supreme Council for Exports during a high-level meeting held at the bank’s headquarters on Sunday, chaired by the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan.

The meeting addressed several issues related to export proceeds and ways to maximise them. It also discussed matters and challenges facing the export sector, as well as the efforts required to strengthen its role in supporting the national economy and generating foreign currency resources.

The Central Bank’s Corporate Communications Department stated that the meeting reflects the bank’s commitment to actively contributing to the state’s efforts to rebuild national institutions, reform economic and organisational structures, and activate institutional frameworks. In this context, the bank put forward a comprehensive strategic vision to address the challenges facing the export sector, centred on a proposal to establish the Supreme Council for Exports.

The proposal is based on the need for a qualitative shift in the approach to managing the export sector, moving away from fragmented and piecemeal solutions towards an integrated national institutional framework that encompasses all stages of the export process and ensures coordination between them. These stages range from production and financing to transportation, storage, insurance, banking and customs procedures, and ultimately international marketing and the repatriation of export proceeds.
