Operational Plan to Resume Pumping Oil From South Sudan

Sudan and South Sudan agreed to develop an operational plan to resume pumping oil and deliver humanitarian aid to South Kordofan State via Juba Airport.

This came during joint talks between the Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, at the Guest Palace in Juba, according to a statement by the Transitional Sovereignty Council.

Salva Kiir Mayardit welcomed the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council on his visit to Juba, stressing their support for the Sudanese people to achieve security and stability, and his country’s readiness to make any efforts to stop the war and end the conflict in Sudan.

Salva Kiir also expressed his appreciation for the level of joint cooperation between the two countries, and for strengthening the ties between Sudan and South Sudan to achieve the hopes and aspirations of the two peoples.

The Sovereignty Council stated that the talks addressed ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations to serve the peoples of the two countries, in addition to prospects for joint cooperation, and issues of interest to the two countries in all fields.

The two sides agreed to consult to reach a mechanism that works to transport humanitarian aid to South Kordofan via Juba International Airport.

The talks also addressed the pending files between the two countries, in addition to the issue of transporting South Sudan’s oil, as the two sides agreed to form a joint committee from the Ministries of Energy and Oil in both Sudan and South Sudan and develop an operational plan to resume pumping and overcome all obstacles related to its operation so that the transmission line operates fully.

Al-Burhan expressed his great appreciation for the strong fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries, adding that the two peoples are one people in two countries.

He praised the role of the Republic of South Sudan in maintaining the safety, security, and stability of Sudan, stressing that the security and stability of Sudan is the security and stability of South Sudan.

The Sudanese side was represented in the talks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Awad, the Minister of Energy and Oil, Engineer Mohi El-Din Naeem, and the Sudanese Ambassador to Juba, Ambassador Essam Karar.
