Sudan Affirms Commitment to Fraternal Relations with All Neighbors, Expresses Surprise at Silence over Ethiopian Attacks

The Government of Sudan affirmed its full respect for the sovereignty of the Republic of Chad, the unity of its territory, and the integrity of its borders, as well as its steadfast commitment to the fraternal relations, good-neighborly ties, and shared interests that bind the two brotherly peoples.
In a statement issued today (Thursday), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed surprise at statements attributing responsibility for the recent incident in Chad “categorically to the Sudanese Armed Forces before any professional and independent verification of the circumstances surrounding the incident had been conducted.”
The ministry’s statement affirmed that the Sudanese Armed Forces are carrying out their constitutional duty to defend Sudan’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity and to confront the threats it faces, while remaining committed to respecting the sovereignty of neighboring countries and refraining from targeting their territories.
It added: “The Government of Sudan views with surprise the silence regarding the daily attacks carried out by drones from inside Ethiopia against Sudanese territory, the latest of which occurred this morning, despite the fact that we possess conclusive evidence and proof of these repeated attacks.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation called on all international parties to exercise accuracy and objectivity and to refrain from adopting incomplete narratives, in a manner that would contribute to reducing tensions and supporting security and stability in the region.
The ministry concluded its statement by reiterating Sudan’s “commitment to fraternal and stable relations with the Republics of Chad and Ethiopia, and to addressing any border or security issues through dialogue and direct coordination between us and them, in a manner that safeguards sovereignty and serves the interests of the peoples.”
