Red Sea Authorities Foil Arms and Explosives Smuggling Attempt

The Red Sea State Anti-Smuggling Forces, in coordination with the General Intelligence Service, conducted a successful operation that thwarted an attempt to smuggle large and varied quantities of weapons and explosives.

Customs media reported on Thursday, citing the Director of the Red Sea Anti-Smuggling Department, Brigadier General Jad Karim Ahmed Al-Fadl, that the operation resulted in the seizure of 77 American pistols, 52 Austrian pistols, 20 American sniper rifles, two American Goryunov machine guns, two Kalashnikov rifles, one G34 rifle, and 14 boxes of detonating cord.

Brigadier General Jad Karim explained that the seizure was the result of continuous field efforts and high vigilance by anti-smuggling personnel. He emphasized the forces’ continued commitment to their duty of combating smuggling and illicit trafficking attempts and strengthening control over ports and routes in Red Sea State.

The operation was commended by the Customs Forces Command. Director General of Customs, Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, commended the efforts of the executing force, their vigilance and efficiency in thwarting this significant operation. He stressed the importance of continuing efforts to combat smuggling and eliminate its sources.

For his part, Assistant Director General of Customs for Anti-Smuggling, Major General Dr. Dafallah Mohamed Dafallah, praised the force that carried out the operation, commending their vigilance and field efficiency.
