Mubarak Ardol to Sudanhorizon: Towards Creating a National Project from Within to Start an Inclusive Sudanese Dialogue

Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Musa

These days, meetings are being held in Port Sudan involving political and community national forces to lay the groundwork for a Sudanese national project.

The head of the Democratic Alliance for Social Justice, Mubarak Ardol, told the Sudanhorizon news website that there is an “initiative by a number of patriots from various blocs, parties, community forces, youth, and native administrations.” He added that these forces have “drafted a document that serves as the foundation for initiating discussions that can be developed into a Sudanese national project. It includes a vision for constitutional arrangements, national issues, and foundational matters for the transitional phase.” Ardol explained that this document was launched from within Sudan to create a national project that unites all national forces and prepares for the post-war period.

Ardol pointed out that there is currently a vacuum in the country, stating that there must be consultations on how to end the war, achieve peace, and arrange for the post-war period. He added, “In this regard, we have met with a number of political, civil, and community forces,” emphasizing that these discussions will not exclude anyone. He clarified that the national forces aligned with the armed forces in the war have named their representatives to participate in this movement.

Ardol stated, “In this context, we met with the head of the Justice and Equality Movement and Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, as well as a member of the Sovereignty Council and head of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, General Malik Agar. We also met with the Secretary-General of the Popular Congress Party, Dr. Amin Mahmoud, and the Sudan Justice Alliance.” He added, “We will soon meet with the Reform Movement and present the document we initiated for discussion to the national forces to gather their feedback in an expanded meeting. We will also organize workshops to reach a consensual vision for a Sudanese-to-Sudanese dialogue.”

Ardol noted that the current priority is Sudanese consensus and that the focus is on drafting a new constitution and planning for reconstruction. He stated, “We are not thinking in a closed manner. We know that the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (Taqaddum) is facing fundamental and organisational internal issues.” He emphasised that the disagreement within Taqaddum over forming a parallel government in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces will not pass easily, as there is a genuine disagreement among its components on this matter.

Ardol concluded, “We will not stop our discussions and will continue until we reach a consensual vision for a Sudanese-to-Sudanese dialogue, free from exclusion.”
