Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon

Yesterday (Wednesday), the Kuwaiti-Turkish humanitarian aid ship arrived at Port Sudan, carrying 150 containers equally divided between the two countries. It was received by the Minister of Culture and Information, Graham Abdel Qader, the Humanitarian Aid Commissioner and the Governor of the Red Sea.

Salwa Adam Baniyah, the Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, praised Kuwait and Turkey’s efforts and ongoing support for the Sudanese people. She affirmed the government’s commitment to delivering all aid to those in need across different states, including those facing exceptional circumstances, using various means, including air transport.

The commissioner expressed her hope for continued cooperation, noting that Sudan also needs aid for the post-war phase.

Turkish Ambassador Fatih Yildiz reiterated his country’s support for the Sudanese people and government. He highlighted the collaboration with Kuwait in preparing the aid that was launched today. He added that organisations from both countries had gathered assistance to remind the world of the Sudanese people.

Mohammed Ibrahim, the Chargé d’Affaires at the Kuwaiti Embassy, stated that the aid, a substantial contribution from the Kuwait Relief Society, following directives from His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, was valued at over two million dollars. The aid ship, carrying 2,500 tons of supplies, was the third in the sea-air bridge, with 32 air shipments delivered so far, a testament to the scale of our relief efforts.

The Kuwaiti Chargé d’Affaires reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to support Sudan until the crisis comes to an end, providing a sense of security and reassurance to the Sudanese people.
