Attorney General Arrives in Geneva to Lead Sudanese Delegation to 63rd Human Rights Council Session

Attorney General and Chairperson of the National Committee for Investigating Crimes and Violations of National Law and International Humanitarian Law, Justice Intisar Ahmed Abdel-Aal, arrived in Geneva this afternoon at the head of Sudan’s delegation participating in the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council.
She was received at Geneva Airport by Sudan’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Hassan Hamed Hassan, and members of the mission.
On the opening day of the session, this coming Monday, the Attorney General is scheduled to present before the Council the fifth interim report on the work of her committee, the status of its investigations, and its overall activities, at the time designated by the Council for consideration of the matter.
She will also discuss the report’s contents with the heads of relevant bodies, foremost among them the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the President of the Human Rights Council.
The 63rd session of the Human Rights Council will be held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva from September 7 to October 9, 2026. The session will focus on a number of global human rights issues, including the human rights situation in Western Sahara and reports by anti-torture committees established by the Council.
