Geological Research Authority, White Nile State Partner to Reopen Office and Boost Mineral Exploration

The Government of White Nile State and the Geological Research Authority have underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation to develop the state’s mineral resources and expand geological research and exploration activities, with the aim of supporting economic growth and investment.
The agreement was reached during a joint meeting in the city of Rabak chaired by White Nile State Governor Lieutenant General Qamar Al-Din Mohamed Fadl Al-Mawla and a delegation from the Geological Research Authority led by Abbad Musaddiq Mohamed, Director of Administrative Affairs and Services. The delegation also included geological consultant Al-Tayeb Ahmed Jalis, Director of State Offices, and Dr. Ahmed Madawi Ezzeldin, Director of the Office of the Director General.
The meeting reviewed mechanisms for implementing the joint action matrix between the two sides and discussed the state’s promising mineral opportunities.
Both parties agreed to reopen and activate the Geological Research Authority’s state office in White Nile State. The move is expected to strengthen geological exploration activities and provide technical and advisory support to the state in the fields of mining and mineral resources.
The two sides also agreed to implement training and capacity-building programs for local geological professionals from the state. In addition, preparations will begin for a comprehensive geological survey project aimed at identifying and evaluating mineral resources and generating data necessary to attract investment in the mining sector.
As part of the agreement, the White Nile State Government allocated plots of land to the Geological Research Authority for the construction of the state office and its technical facilities.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the outcomes of previous meetings, particularly those related to training local personnel and providing technical and consulting services to the state.
The Geological Research Authority further revealed that it has already begun procedures to identify and document geological professionals working in the state, with the goal of involving them in future exploration programs and development projects.
The meeting was attended by several senior state officials, including the Minister of Finance and Labor, the Minister of Urban Planning, the Minister of Health and Social Development, the Investment Commissioner, the Governor’s Adviser, and the Director of Quarries and Mines in White Nile State.
