Youth and Sports Minister Opens National Heritage Festival at Youth and Children’s Palace

Minister of Youth and Sports Professor Ahmed Adam stressed the importance of Sudanese heritage as an integral part of the Sudanese people’s identity and history, calling for greater attention to it and for its promotion through various media outlets.

He made the remarks while opening the National Heritage Festival at the Youth and Children’s Palace in Omdurman on Tuesday morning. The event was attended by Khartoum State Minister of Culture and Information Al-Tayeb Saad Al-Din, Chairman of the Khartoum State Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Dr. Yahya Babiker, Director of the Youth and Children’s Palace Dr. Loay Barakat, and a number of people interested in heritage, culture, and youth affairs.

The Minister of Youth and Sports said the National Heritage Festival sends a message to the world that Sudan is well and that its people remain committed to their identity and heritage, united and cohesive despite the circumstances facing the country. He called for heritage and cultural events to receive media coverage that highlights the richness and diversity of Sudanese heritage.

The festival featured a number of heritage performances and activities, including the “Watan” tableau and the “Ahalina” troupe, as well as a presentation on heritage by Dr. Youssef Jirqandi. The Badiyat Sudan Group also participated, showcasing the diversity and richness of Sudan’s cultural heritage.

For his part, Khartoum State Minister of Culture and Information Al-Tayeb Saad Al-Din stressed the importance of heritage as a vessel for Sudanese culture and identity, calling on media professionals to play their role in promoting heritage and introducing the public to Sudanese cultural traditions.

Director of the Youth and Children’s Palace Dr. Loay Barakat said the palace’s doors are open to young people and creative talents, stressing the importance of continuing cultural and heritage programs that contribute to strengthening national identity.
