Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Engineer and Advisor Moatasim Ibrahim Ahmed, inspected the GTS Lubricants Plant in the Safola area, south of Khartoum, on Thursday to review the final preparations ahead of its official inauguration, which is expected to take place in August.

During the visit, the minister toured the facility’s advanced production, blending, and packaging operations and received a detailed briefing on the plant’s construction readiness and planned production capacity.

The minister described the facility as a significant addition to Sudan’s petroleum sector and a major step forward for the lubricants industry, which requires high-quality production standards. He praised the determination and resilience of the plant’s management and workforce in what he called the “battle of reconstruction and recovery,” noting their efforts to rehabilitate the facility after it sustained extensive damage and destruction during the conflict. He also highlighted the plant’s role in creating employment opportunities and supporting stability in Khartoum.

For its part, the management of the GTS plant stated that the facility will operate in accordance with internationally recognized API and ACEA standards to produce a comprehensive range of industrial lubricants and greases. The company added that it aims to meet growing domestic demand before expanding into regional markets across the Middle East and Africa under the slogan: “Power… Performance… Trust.”
