El-Burhan and Al-Sisi Discuss Prospects for Peace in Sudan

Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudanese Transitional Sovereign Council, arrived in Cairo on Wednesday on an visit to Egypt where he was received at Egyptian President Palace by Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and they immediately entered into a bilateral discussion session.
According to the Sudan News Agency, the discussions reviewed the course of bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance joint cooperation in the various fields, as well as developments in Sudan and issues of mutual interest.
The discussions, the agency reported, emphasized the depth and strength of the long-standing relations between the two countries and the importance of consolidating, strengthening, and advancing them to serve the common interests of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
President Al-Burhan recently received an official invitation from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to visit Egypt and participate in the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, scheduled for November 1.
Senior diplomatic sources speaking to Sudanhorizon news website suggested that the current visit is likely linked to the accelerating regional and international efforts to end the war in Sudan, led by the United States and the African Union, with support from the United Nations.
The Chairman of the Sovereign Council is accompanied during this visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mohieddin Salim Ahmed and Director-General of the General Intelligence Service, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufadhal.
