Sudan Condemns UAE’s “Harmful Actions” and Rejects External Interference in Its Affairs

Port Sudan – In a strongly worded statement issued today, Malik Agar Eyre, Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, accused the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of orchestrating a “harmful” conference targeting Sudan’s national security and sovereignty. The statement, addressed to the Sudanese people, the international community, and regional and Arab nations, comes amid escalating tensions over external interference in Sudan’s internal affairs.
The UAE is reportedly planning to organize a special conference on Sudan’s situation on February 14, 2025, on the sidelines of the African Union (AU) Summit. The conference is said to involve international and regional organizations, including the United Nations, the African Union, the UAE, Ethiopia, and other nations. Egypt was also invited but has refused to participate, a move described by Agar as “honourable and expected.”
Agar condemned the initiative, stating that it “seeks only to distort facts and perpetuate aggression against Sudan.” He criticized the UAE for attempting to impose its political agenda by securing the participation of the UN Secretary-General and the Ethiopian Prime Minister, urging Ethiopia to prioritize mutual interests in its stance.
The timing of the conference has raised further suspicions. It is scheduled to take place on the same day as the AU Peace and Security Council meeting, a move Agar described as “deliberately timed and ill-intentioned.” He accused the UAE of manipulating the regional political scene and creating discussions that serve its “aggressive agenda” rather than Sudan’s true interests.
Rejection of External Interference
Agar reiterated Sudan’s firm rejection of any initiatives or meetings held without its involvement, particularly those organized by countries outside the African Union. He emphasized that such actions constitute “a complete crime and aggression” against Sudan’s sovereignty and violate the AU’s foundational principles of unity and respect for territorial integrity.
The statement also accused the UAE of attempting to “whitewash its image” while continuing to support terrorism in Africa, particularly in Sudan. Agar pointed to the UAE’s alleged arming and funding of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which he said has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Sudan. He dismissed the UAE’s claims of providing humanitarian aid as a cover for its involvement in fueling conflict and suffering in the region.
Commitment to Sovereignty and National Unity
Agar affirmed Sudan’s unwavering commitment to protecting its sovereignty and national interests, declaring that the country “will not accept any interference or manipulation of its people’s destiny.” He called on allied nations and peace-loving peoples worldwide to unite against what he described as attempts to serve external agendas at the expense of Sudan’s sovereignty.
The Deputy Chairman highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Sudanese Army and national forces to restore security and stability, citing recent victories in recapturing key regions such as Al-Jazira, Khartoum, and Bahri. While acknowledging that the military solution is not final, Agar stressed that it is a necessary step to pave the way for a comprehensive political dialogue grounded in justice, the rule of law, and respect for national security.
Call for African Union Reassessment
Agar urged the African Union to reassess its positions and decisions regarding Sudan, emphasizing that the AU’s primary purpose is to support the continent’s causes and nations, not to advance foreign agendas. He called for a renewed focus on justice and the rights of victims as the foundation for rebuilding the Sudanese state.
In conclusion, Agar reaffirmed Sudan’s determination to defend its dignity, independence, and free destiny. “Sudan is a proud nation, and we will not compromise its sovereignty,” he declared. “Our people will not accept guardianship imposed by countries that ally with terrorist militias.”
The statement underscores Sudan’s resolve to resist external interference and pursue a path of peace and stability through dialogue, justice, and respect for national sovereignty.
