Killers of a Captured Rebel Detained

The Sudanese Army announced the arrest of soldiers who killed a member of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) after he had been captured.
In a statement obtained by Sudanhorizon, the army said:

“A video circulated on social media shows a captured RSF rebel being killed by one of our soldiers. The Sudanese Armed Forces clarify that this deplorable act represents an individual violation that goes against the ethics and values of religion, the law, and the traditions of the armed forces. Those responsible for this crime have been detained and will face trial under the Armed Forces Act.”

The statement further emphasized the army’s commitment to adhering strictly to international humanitarian law and rules of engagement. “We remain steadfast in ensuring our personnel do not mimic the barbaric behaviour of the militias. Any individual who exceeds the boundaries of the law will be held accountable without hesitation,” the statement added.
