Sovereignty Council Adviser to Sudanhorizon: Sudan Open to Realistic Peace Proposals Without Preconditions

Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Musa

Dr. Amjad Farid, adviser to the Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, affirmed that the Sudanese government would engage with any positive and realistic proposal aimed at achieving peace. He stressed that there were no preconditions for peace efforts, while emphasising the need to take facts and realities on the ground into account.

In an exclusive statement to Sudanhorizon News, Farid commented on remarks by US President Donald Trump’s Senior Adviser for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, regarding the Quad’s efforts to reach a settlement to the Sudanese crisis. He said that any peace initiative must take into account the realities and facts on the ground.

He added that the government’s compass and foremost priority were protecting Sudanese civilians from the brutality, oppression and crimes of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, while safeguarding Sudan’s unity and sovereignty.

Earlier on Saturday, US presidential adviser Massad Boulos announced in two posts on the social media platform X that the Quad countries – the United States, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – had held what he described as productive meetings in Geneva to discuss accelerating efforts to end the war in Sudan.

He explained that the four countries had agreed to activate communication channels with both sides of the conflict in pursuit of a settlement beginning with a humanitarian truce, paving the way for a permanent ceasefire and ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those in need.

Boulos also noted that the Quad’s efforts would complement those of the Quintet mechanism in facilitating an inclusive political dialogue led by Sudanese people and reflecting their will, ultimately paving the way for a political transition towards civilian rule.
