Great News for 300 Sudanese Nationals Jailed in Egyptian Prisons Due to Depts

The General Secretariat of the Sudanese Zakat Chamber signed a memorandum of understanding on Sunday with the Embassy of Sudan in Cairo to settle the debts of 300 Sudanese debtors imprisoned in Egyptian prisons, paving the way for their repatriation to Sudan.
According to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the signing ceremony, held at the Sudanese Embassy in New Cairo’s Fifth Settlement district, was witnessed by Moatasim Ahmed Saleh, Sudan’s Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, and Lieutenant General Imad El-Din Adawi, Sudan’s Ambassador to Egypt.
Speaking to reporters after the signing, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare emphasized the important role played by the Zakat Chamber in supporting debtors through its humanitarian programs. He also praised the Chamber’s significant contribution to Sudan’s voluntary return initiatives and commended the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo for its efforts in addressing the needs of Sudanese nationals affected by the war while residing in Egypt.
The minister further revealed that arrangements are underway to facilitate the return of stranded Sudanese citizens from Libya, Uganda, and South Sudan. He said that approximately 650 flights would be required to bring them back to Sudan, adding that the operation will form part of the Hope Committee for Voluntary Return’s plan to expand repatriation efforts in the coming period.
