Sudan Briefs Germany and Poland on Developments in the Country and Complaint Against Ethiopia to UNSC

Sudan’s Chargé d’Affaires in Berlin, Ambassador Idris Mohamed Ali, briefed the German and Polish foreign ministries, as well as the diplomatic community in both countries, on developments in Sudan following drone attacks launched from Ethiopian territory that targeted vital infrastructure, particularly power stations, and struck several cities.

During a meeting of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Berlin on Tuesday morning, the ambassador provided an update on the situation in Sudan. He stated that Sudan was facing what he described as comprehensive external aggression by the state sponsoring the terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia, through full financing of the war, the transfer of military equipment and weapons, the recruitment and deployment of mercenaries and foreign fighters, and the provision of political cover and support.

He added that the militia was merely a hired gun carrying out plans for external aggression aimed at undermining the country’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, security, stability, people and resources.

The Sudanese ambassador affirmed that this external hostile scheme had failed, attributing that outcome to the courage, heroism and steadfastness of the Armed Forces and supporting forces, as well as the backing of the Sudanese people.

He noted that the national resolve and determination remained firm and focused on completing the clearance of Sudanese territory of the militia and mercenaries, continuing reconstruction and rehabilitation of areas destroyed by what he described as external aggression, and enabling refugees and internally displaced persons to return to their cities and villages.

Ambassador Idris explained that Sudan had recently filed a complaint with the UN Security Council and the African Union Peace and Security Council against Ethiopia over its latest attack, which he described as a dangerous military escalation. He affirmed Sudan’s ability to protect and secure its territory and confront all acts of aggression.

During the meeting of Arab ambassadors in Berlin, Ambassador Idris Mohamed Ali also highlighted the supportive role of Arab countries and the Arab League in backing Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, security and stability.
