Al-Merrikh is set to play a crucial match on Wednesday evening against Inter Nouakchott at Cheikha Boidiya Stadium in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, as part of the 12th round of the Mauritanian Premier League.
The Sudanese Red Devils are chasing rivals Al-Hilal after losing their top spot on the league table following a 1-0 defeat to Al-Shamal on Tuesday evening.
Al-Merrikh is grappling with the absence of 14 players for various reasons, including the international quartet—Ramadan Agab, Mohamed Al-Rashid, Moussa Hussein, and Awad Zayed—remaining in Sudan, and the exclusion of seven players by the head coach: Gabriel, Moussa, Al-Samani, Al-Tawza, Ali Al-Rawqa, Tunisian professional Al-Beloushi, and goalkeeper Jarras Kafi. Additionally, injuries have sidelined three players: Musab Makin, Ahmed Abdel-Monem Tobanja, and Saboun.
The two Sudanese giants, Al-Merrikh and Al-Hilal, are fiercely competing for the top spot in the Mauritanian Premier League. Al-Hilal currently leads with 21 points, while Al-Merrikh trails with 18 points.
