Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

The General Authority for Geological Research announced its commitment to providing technical support to companies interested in mining industrial minerals in the Nile River State. This announcement came during a meeting between its delegation, which included the Director of the Development Projects Department, Dr. Hamad Bashir Othman, and the Director of the Authority’s Nile River State office, Geologist Mohamed Tahir Abdel Aziz (Eila), and the Secretary of the State Government, Othman Mohamed Othman, at the conclusion of the delegation’s official mission to the state.

According to the Geological Research Information Office, the state government affirmed its commitment to dedicating all its resources to developing industrial mineral projects and its adoption of a project to study the “seepage” phenomenon in cooperation with the Authority.

The delegation provided an overview of the various industrial minerals abundant in the state, including marble, calcium carbonate, white sand, kaolin, talc, iron, manganese, and pozzolana.

The meeting discussed the Authority’s commitment to providing the necessary technical support to companies, encouraging them to enter the field of mining minerals used in manufacturing industries, such as the production of solar panels, batteries, cement, and paints – all strategic industries. The delegation emphasized the importance of this project in driving production, explaining that the mining and extraction of industrial raw materials do not cause any environmental damage, as they do not use chemicals such as mercury and cyanide. The meeting also addressed the phenomenon of seepage in Atbara and Abu Hamad, where the Authority will submit a proposal to study the phenomenon in cooperation with Wadi El Nile University.

The Secretary of the Government Secretariat commended the Authority’s role in utilizing the state’s mineral resources and affirmed the state’s commitment to taking measures to resolve all obstacles hindering the completion of geological work. He stressed full cooperation with the Authority and the mobilization of all state resources to develop industrial raw material projects. He also confirmed the state’s adoption of the project to study the seepage phenomenon in collaboration with the Authority.
