The Governance and Administration Sector of the Council of Ministers reviewed, at a meeting held on Tuesday and chaired by Defence Minister Lieutenant General Hassan Dawoud Kabroun, a report by the committee tasked with establishing mechanisms and regulations for handling and securing electronic documents.

The meeting stressed the importance of adopting authenticated electronic correspondence as the state’s sole official channel, while making paper-based circulation a restricted exception that must be justified. It also emphasised the need to make electronic communication the primary channel for all government correspondence and documents, in accordance with the digital transformation roadmap and the transition from paper-based procedures to a unified national electronic system.

In a separate development, the meeting approved Sudan’s ratification of the Protocol on the Statute of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights. It described ratification as a positive opportunity to reaffirm Sudan’s commitment to human rights and engage constructively with regional and international human rights mechanisms.

The meeting also approved a memorandum of understanding on security cooperation between the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Sudan and the Iraqi Ministry of Interior. The agreement is expected to contribute to combating organised and cross-border crime.
