Sudan: Investment Map to Drive Transition from Paper-Based Systems to Digital Governance
Khartoum – Sudan Horizon
The Secretary-General of the National Investment Authority, Ahlam Madani Mahdi, said that the digital investment map represents a strategic shift in Sudan’s investment landscape, marking a transition from traditional paper-based systems to transparent digital governance.
She made the remarks during a joint meeting on Tuesday with the Director-General of the Sudanese Survey Authority, Lt. Gen. Al-Amin Banga, to review progress on agreements concerning the investment map project and discuss its electronic platform.
Ahlam praised the efforts made by the Sudanese Survey Authority, noting that cooperation with the authority represents a cornerstone of the project.
She explained that the investment map is a digital geographic and economic database documenting investment opportunities through coordinates, satellite imagery, infrastructure information, and legal status. Its role is to promote transparency and credibility by presenting opportunities supported by verified data, reduce investment time and costs by consolidating information on a single platform linking investment authorities with relevant entities, and prevent land disputes and overlapping jurisdictions.
“Focusing on the Red Sea coast map reflects its national importance. Sudan has more than 750 kilometres of largely untouched coastline, rich in opportunities in ports, tourism, mining, and fisheries,” she said.
She added that the digital investment map sends a clear message to investors at home and abroad that Sudan is ready for investment with full transparency. Investors anywhere in the world will be able to explore opportunities in Sudan from their offices and submit applications electronically.
She affirmed that the National Investment Authority is continuing efforts to complete technical integration with the Sudanese Survey Authority and other relevant entities in preparation for launching the digital investment map.
