Sudanese Prime Minister Holds Talks with Pope Leo and Vatican Officials

A press statement published by Vatican News said that Pope Leo XIV received Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil El-Tayeb Idris Abdelhafiz at the Vatican on Monday morning.
The statement added that the Prime Minister later met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and the Undersecretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Monsignor Mihaita Blaj, at the Secretariat of State headquarters.
According to a statement issued by the Holy See Press Office, the discussions at the Secretariat of State were cordial and emphasized the positive relations between the Holy See and Sudan.
The statement noted that the talks focused on “the significant contribution of the local Church to the welfare of the country, and the severe crisis affecting war-torn Sudan over the past three years.”
In this context, the statement stressed “the urgent need to achieve a ceasefire, provide assistance to the population, and begin sincere dialogue among all components of the Sudanese people, with the aim of ending the conflict and collectively establishing peace.”
