Sovereign Council Member Chairs Meeting on Petroleum Products
Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, met on Thursday with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, the Director of Supplies, and a representative of the General Intelligence Service at the Ministry to discuss the government’s directives aimed at securing petroleum products and curbing the depreciation of the Sudanese pound against foreign currencies.
In a press statement, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, Ali Abdel Rahman, explained that the meeting, held in Port Sudan, sent a warning to some companies that had failed to adhere to their agreements with the Ministry of Energy regarding the unloading of petroleum products. This has led to the recent resurgence of queues and shortages of petroleum products. He also revealed that a fuel tanker had arrived and was currently being unloaded, anticipating that the crisis would be completely resolved within the next 24 hours.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy also announced the activation of the “Pricing Structure Committee” with the participation of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the Bank of Sudan, the Ministry of Finance, and Economic Security, along with a number of competent authorities, with the aim of setting the selling prices of petroleum products and preventing chaos in the markets, noting that the committee is working with high efficiency in order to stabilize prices and unify them in all stations.
