Khartoum State Committee on Security and Rule of Law Holds Latest Meeting Under Interior Minister

Sudan’s Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General of Police (Legal) Babikir Samra Mustafa, chaired on Saturday the 11th meeting of the Khartoum State Committee on Security and the Enforcement of State Authority, with the participation of representatives from all military and security agencies serving on the committee.

According to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the meeting reviewed performance reports submitted by the committee’s specialized subcommittees covering the recent period and reaffirmed the continuation of security plans aimed at strengthening stability and reinforcing the authority of the state across Khartoum State.

Brigadier General of Police Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Tom, head of the committee’s media committee, said Major General Abdelkhair Abdullah Nasser, head of the committee responsible for clearing Khartoum State of military formations, confirmed that coordination has been strengthened between the Joint Forces and other regular forces to regulate the movement of military personnel within the state. He added that military police units have been deployed at entry points, crossings, and bridges to monitor and address violations committed by members of military formations.

For his part, Lieutenant General of Police (Legal) Dr. Siraj El-Din Mansour Khalid, head of the Central Operations Room, said the security and criminal situation in Khartoum State remains calm. He noted that the operations room had carried out a series of security patrols and cordon-and-search operations across several localities, resulting in the registration of 4,792 criminal cases and the arrest of 2,820 suspects, against whom legal proceedings have been initiated.

He added that the committee also participated in campaigns to remove informal settlements, secure cleared sites and surrounding areas, install surveillance cameras at several locations, and continue the operations of the emergency police service, which receives reports from citizens through the toll-free emergency number 999.

Regarding vehicles, the head of the operations room said the committee responsible for recovering vehicles and machinery had collected 15,728 vehicles from various localities across the state. He urged citizens whose vehicles are missing to contact the committee to reclaim them through the competent prosecution office at the Khartoum State Traffic Department or local traffic offices, free of charge.

The head of the committee responsible for removing informal settlements said the committee had demolished 4,640 illegal structures and distributed 15,561 warning notices, adding that its operations continue throughout Khartoum State.

He also said the committee tasked with clearing Khartoum State of foreign nationals and refugees had carried out four campaigns, resulting in the detention and repatriation of 178 foreign nationals to their home countries. In addition, 165 other foreign nationals were detained and returned to their countries in accordance with the applicable legal procedures.
