Bede Sudan Launches BBAN Service to Strengthen Banking Integration and Expand Digital Transaction
The new service enables users to make payments and receive funds via a Basic Bank Account Number linked to their Bede wallet, within the regulatory frameworks of the Central Bank of Sudan
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
Bede Sudan, a Zain Fintech company, has announced the launch of the Basic Bank Account Number (BBAN) service through its digital wallet, in cooperation with Blue Nile Mashreq Bank and after meeting all legal and regulatory requirements. The launch is a new step toward deepening integration between mobile payment services and Sudan’s banking sector, and expanding the digital money transfer options available to users.
The service launches following Bede’s receipt of approval from the Central Bank of Sudan and fulfillment of all necessary legal and regulatory requirements, allowing the digital wallet to be linked more broadly with Sudan’s banking system.
The service marks an important development in Bede’s journey toward stronger banking integration and consolidates its role as part of the country’s digital financial ecosystem. It will help ease the movement of funds between bank accounts and e-wallets and give users more flexible options for managing their everyday financial transactions.
The BBAN service gives users a Basic Bank Account Number linked to their Bedi wallet, which can be used to receive transfers. The number consists of 15, followed by Sudan’s international dialing code +249 and the Zain phone number linked to the Bede wallet. Through this service, users can also send and receive funds across all Sudanese banks, or in cash through Bedi agents or Zain offices, in accordance with the service’s approved procedures.
The service is particularly significant in supporting the Central Bank of Sudan’s efforts to reduce reliance on cash, encourage the use of digital payment methods, and widen access to formal financial services, thereby promoting financial inclusion and simplifying transactions for individuals and merchants.
Ms. Wafaa Homoudi, General Manager of Bede Sudan, said:
“The launch of the BBAN service is an important milestone in Bede’s journey toward building a more integrated digital financial ecosystem in Sudan. Securing the approval of the Central Bank of Sudan, after meeting all legal and regulatory requirements, reflects our commitment to developing reliable financial services that operate within approved banking frameworks and respond to our customers’ needs.”
She added:
“The significance of this step goes beyond offering a new way to receive funds. It extends to strengthening the links between digital wallets and bank accounts and facilitating the flow of money across different payment channels. We believe that expanding the use of digital solutions is a cornerstone of efforts to reduce reliance on cash, simplify daily transactions, and promote financial inclusion in Sudan.”
Homoudi concluded:
“We will continue working with our partners in the banking sector and with regulators to develop Bede’s services and expand their integration with Sudan’s financial system, providing users with easier and more flexible options and supporting digital transformation and a better financial services experience in the country.”
Launched in April 2025, the Bede wallet offers its services through a mobile app, a USSD service for basic phones, and a web portal, alongside a network of agents and merchants, providing access to financial services through multiple channels.
Through the development of banking connectivity and the expansion of digital transactions with the launch of BBAN, Bede Sudan continues to support the building of a more interconnected financial system, offering practical solutions that help individuals manage their money and carry out daily transactions with ease, while strengthening the role of financial technology in advancing financial inclusion and the shift toward a digital economy in Sudan.
