IGAD Council of Ministers to Hold Extraordinary Session in Djibouti in Mid-September

The Council of Ministers of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) will hold an extraordinary session in Djibouti in mid-September, with the country hosting the organization’s 74th extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers.

According to a press statement issued by the organization and reviewed by Sudanhorizon, the meeting comes at a critical moment for the region. The Council, which comprises foreign ministers, will address pressing peace and security issues during the session and work to strengthen collective action on priorities of concern to member states and their peoples.

The organization affirmed that the Council of Ministers and its deliberations on various issues constitute an important platform for consultation, coordination, and collective decision-making in support of peace, stability, and regional cooperation.
