Sudanese-Chinese Talks in Beijing to Enhance Agricultural Investment and Food Security

The Director General of the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, Salah Mohamed Abdel Rahim, held talks on Monday with Mr. Yu Zhou Rui, Vice President of the China-Africa Development Fund, at the fund’s headquarters in Beijing. The meeting was attended by Sudan’s Ambassador to China, Omar Issa Ahmed, along with a number of officials and experts from both sides.

The discussions focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between the two parties and explore opportunities for partnership and investment in productive and developmental sectors, particularly agriculture, food security, and agro-industries, in support of Sudan’s economic development efforts, according to Sudanese Radio correspondent in China, Osama Mokhtar.

During the meeting, Abdel Rahim highlighted Sudan’s economic potential and available investment opportunities, pointing to the vast resources and capabilities of the country’s agricultural sector, which make it attractive to foreign investment, particularly from China, while generating added value for the national economy.

He also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with Chinese financial and investment institutions to support strategic agricultural projects and strengthen food security.

For his part, Mr. Yu Zhou Rui expressed the fund’s interest in examining promising investment opportunities in Sudan and affirmed its readiness to continue dialogue and coordination with the Sudanese Agricultural Bank and relevant institutions to explore potential areas of cooperation and support projects with economic and developmental value.

The two sides agreed to maintain technical communication and exchange information on priority projects while working to develop practical initiatives that would help establish effective investment partnerships between Sudan and China, advancing mutual interests and supporting development in both countries.

The meeting comes within the framework of the distinguished Sudanese-Chinese relationship and the shared commitment of both countries to expand economic and investment cooperation, particularly in productive sectors that constitute a fundamental pillar for achieving growth and sustainable development.
