Sudanese Acting Chargé d’Affaires Meets Director of the Australia-Africa Relations Centre at Curtin University

Ahmed Abdel-Latif, Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan to Australia and New Zealand, met with Professor David Mickler, Director of the Australia-Africa Relations Centre at Curtin University and Chair of the Australia-Africa Universities Network (AAUN).
He was accompanied by a delegation that included Professor Chika Anyanwu, Professor of Digital Media and Head of the School of Professional Studies at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Canberra, as well as Ms. Ruvie Jordima and Ms. Nothando Ngwenya, researchers at Curtin University.
A press release issued by the Sudanese Embassy in Australia stated that the meeting addressed several topics of mutual interest, particularly prospects for cooperation between Australia and Africa, and the role and positive contributions of African communities within Australian society. Special emphasis was placed on the experience of the Sudanese community in Australia and its role in strengthening ties between the Sudanese and Australian peoples.

The Acting Chargé d’Affaires also received copies of the latest research publications, including the Australian Research Council (ARC) project report on the African impact in Australia, the strategic plan for the Australia-Africa Universities Network (AAUN) for the 2026–2030 period, and the final report of the Emerging Leaders in Australia-Africa Diplomacy program. The Acting Chargé d’Affaires emphasized Sudan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Australian universities and academic institutions and joining the Australia-Africa Universities Network. This initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge, and to leverage modern technologies and Australian experience across various fields—particularly in the sectors of reconstruction, development, and capacity building in Sudan.
