Sudan urges UN to Exercise Pressure on Those Obstructing Delivery of Humanitarian Aid to Affected Civilians

Sudan has urged the United Nations to exercise pressure on the rebels who are obstructing delivery of humanitarian assistance to affected civilians, saying the rebels also divert humanitarian relief convoys and confine their distribution to  their contents  different entities.
Ambassador Hussein Awad, Sudan’s Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs, said in statements following a meeting between Lt General Abdul Fatah Al Burhan, President of the Sovereign Council and the visiting UN Assistant Secretary General Aminah Mohamed, in the attendance of the UN Special Envoy for the Sudan, Ramattan Lamamra, said Sudan has said the UN should take more action in this regard
He said the meeting, held in Port Sudan, reviewed the developments of the situation in the Sudan and the efforts exerted by its government to open safe corridors for delivery of humanitarian assistance to the civilians, as the aid would contribute in the relief of Sudanese nationals who have been affected by the horrors committed by the rebel RSF terrorist militias.
He stressed that the Sudanese government has shown huge cooperation with the UN on the delivery of humanitarian assistance through opening of a number of crossing points for the delivery of relief, including the Adre crossing point on the border line with Chad.
The Minister has meanwhile pinpointed that despite the government concern that Adre crossing point might be misused, it still cooperated with the UN and agreed to open the crossing point short any negative statements on a government failure to save its own people.

He said the Sudanese government has demanded that the UN should condemn all types of violations being committed by the rebel RSF terrorist militias against the civilians and their disregard for international laws.
The Minister added that the UN official has met with the Vice President of the Sovereign Council as well as members of the Sovereign Council, focusing on the developments of the Situation in the Sudan at the background of the rebellion carried out by leaders of the rebel RSF terrorist militias against the state and its various institutions.
On her part the visiting UN Assistant Secretary General has meanwhile said her visit to the country was aimed at getting firsthand information about the developments of the situation in the Sudan. She expressed UN appreciation for the steps taken by the Sudanese government in opening the Adre crossing point to allow the passage of humanitarian assistance for civilians affected by the war.
She underlined that the UN appreciates the government cooperation for the delivery of food to the needy adding that the humanitarian crisis in the Sudan requires the cooperation of all actors in the humanitarian field for saving Sudanese sieged in the conflict zones.
The UN official has meanwhile pointed out to the urgent need for humanitarian response by the International organizations operating it the humanitarian fields to assist women and children
She said the UN also pays attention to the Sudanese refugees who have left their homeland and crossed into neighbouring countries and that the UN works to assist them.
She said she has come to the country, accompanied by the UN Envoy to the Sudan, so as to emphasise the need for finding a solution to the Sudanese crisis, ending the war and the suffering of the Sudanese people, by implementation of what has been agreed upon in the Jeddah Forum.
