Unprecedented Drop in Food Prices in Dilling

For the first time since the outbreak of war three years ago, life has returned to normal in the city of Dilling after the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and their supporting forces entered the city, breaking the siege and defeating the Rapid Support Forces militia.

People who spoke to Sudanhorizon on Friday revealed a significant drop in the prices of basic commodities including food, fuel, and medicine.

Civilians in the city said that the price of a sack of corn has fallen to 45,000 Sudanese pounds from 750,000, almot a half, and the price of a kilogram of sugar went down 3,000 pounds from 16,000, almost one fifth.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that dozens of trucks loaded with food and medicine entered Dilling on Thursday afternoon following the lifting of the siege.

There is widespread jubilation in Dilling following the lifting of the siege and the arrival of food and medical supplies to markets, shops, and hospitals, the witnesses noted.
