Sudan Reaffirms Commitment to Combating Corruption Despite Challenges it Faces

Vienna – Sudanhorizon
Sudan has reaffirmed its commitment to combating corruption and protecting public funds, despite the exceptional circumstances the country is currently facing. It also called for the specific needs of conflict-affected nations to be taken into consideration.
In a statement delivered Sunday at the fifteenth session of the Assembly of Parties to the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA)—held at the Vienna International Centre—Ambassador Al-Sadiq Al-Fadil Al-Mubarak, Chargé d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Vienna, outlined efforts to strengthen legal and institutional frameworks. Key among these are the 2021 Anti-Corruption and Public Funds Recovery Act and the appointment of a head for the Anti-Corruption Commission last June.
The Ambassador also commended the Academy’s efforts to foster international cooperation, particularly through the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence to promote transparency, accountability, and the detection of corruption risks.
Sudan urged the Academy to incorporate the needs of conflict-affected countries into its programs, with a focus on capacity building, training, and knowledge transfer—all of which contribute to strengthening integrity institutions and supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts.
In concluding his remarks, the Ambassador reiterated Sudan’s dedication to continued cooperation with the Academy and the member states to achieve shared goals in the fight against corruption and to firmly establish the principles of transparency and accountability.
