Sudanese FM Undersecretary Meets Head of ICRC Office

Ambassador Muawiya Osman Khalid, Undersecretary at the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met in New York with Elise-Nicole Mosquini, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) office.
The meeting addressed focused on cooperation between Sudan and the Committee. The Undersecretary expressed Sudan’s appreciation for the efforts exerted by the ICRC both within Sudan and globally, adding that the wartime conditions in Sudan necessitate redoubling these efforts, particularly regarding the exchange of civilian and military detainees.
According to the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting also touched upon the situation of Sudanese nationals in Libya and Syria, as well as the roles the ICRC could play in this regard.
For her part, the Head of the ICRC office expressed gratitude for the cooperation extended by the Sudanese government to facilitate the Committee’s mission and affirmed their readiness to continue their work and provide necessary assistance across all relevant files.
