Agar: Sudan Left Alone to Fight this War
Juba – Sudanhorizon
On Tuesday in Juba, Malik Agar, Vice President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, briefed ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions, as well as representatives of the African Union and IGAD accredited to the Republic of South Sudan, on the humanitarian situation in the country and the victories achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on the battlefronts.
Agar explained to the ambassadors that international and regional efforts have not yet reached the level required to establish peace in Sudan.
He pointed to the leniency and cooperation of some of Sudan’s neighboring countries with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebel militia and cross-border mercenaries, despite the collapse of the militia’s slogans, which they launched at the beginning of their aggression against the Sudanese people. They claimed that the war aimed to achieve democracy and was against the central government, a lie that was exposed after the genocide perpetrated against the Masalit people in West Darfur and the citizens of El Fasher. Furthermore, they claimed it was a war against Islamists to curry favor with some Gulf and Western countries.
Aqar stated that the war aims at occupation and settlement to serve the interests of other countries, and that the Sudanese people have no stake in it. He noted that although life has returned to most of the areas vacated by the rebel militia, drones continue to target service facilities.
The Vice President of the Sovereign Council ruled out the possibility of presenting a peace agenda for Sudan without the country’s participation, especially given its exclusion from the African Union, the continent’s largest institution. He emphasized that Sudan has been left alone in this war, but will prevail through the will of its people, who aspire to progress and prosperity.
