Egyptian-Omani Consultations on Yemen, Sudan, and Palestine

The Egyptian capital, Cairo, hosted high-level Egyptian-Omani political consultations on Tuesday, attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty and his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al-Busaidi.

According to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the two ministers affirmed convergence of their visions and the integration of their efforts to consolidate security and stability in the region by adhering to the principles of international law, resorting to wisdom and justice, and employing all available peaceful means to reconcile all parties in accordance with the supreme interests of states, their sovereignty, and their national security.

Regarding developments in Yemen, both sides affirmed their “support for the Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue in Riyadh to reach a consensual settlement to the issue of southern Yemen, leading to a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement that preserves the sovereignty, unity, and stability of this dear Arab country, and fulfills the aspirations of its people for security and prosperity.”

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in Sudan, emphasizing the importance of supporting national institutions, ending the fighting and escalation, protecting civilians, and facilitating the flow of relief and humanitarian aid to the population through UN agencies and relevant civil society organizations.

They also stressed the need to support efforts aimed at reaching a consensual political solution that preserves the rights and legitimate choices of the Sudanese people, ensures their sovereignty and stability on their land, and guarantees their safe and cooperative coexistence with all neighboring countries.

The two sides reiterated their firm and unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the June 4, 1967 borders. They also stressed the necessity of lifting the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, allowing for the immediate entry of all relief and humanitarian supplies and services to the population and paving the way for reconstruction and the return of a dignified life for the residents.

According to the statement, the two ministers expressed their shared commitment to continuing coordination, consultation, and constructive cooperation in all matters that serve common interests and strengthen the foundations of security and stability in the region.
