Dongola – Sudanhorizon
Youth entrepreneurship training programs were launched today (Sunday) in the capital of Northern State. The programs are organized by the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in cooperation with the Training Center at the University of Dongola, with the participation of several companies affiliated with the Export Development Group, notably Rasyat and Afatrade, as well as Nile Poultry Company and Zadna.
The launch was attended by Amir Hassan Bashir, Director General of the Ministry of Finance and Labor Force; Major General Dr. Abdulrahman Ahmed Faqiri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports; and Dr. Mahmoud Ali Saeed, Director of the Training Center at the University of Dongola.
The program has attracted significant official and youth interest due to the importance of vocational and productive training in strengthening young people’s capabilities, preparing them to enter the labor market, and enabling them to establish and manage their own businesses.
According to “Sudanhorizon” follow-ups, the first day of the opening course, “Horticulture,” was filled with learning, knowledge, activity, and enthusiasm. Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Dongola, Dr. Hussein Abdulrahman, and instructor Faiqa Ahmed delivered comprehensive training content that drew strong engagement from participants, clearly demonstrating their desire to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to enter the world of work and production.
The program includes 33 training courses across 11 productive fields, covering agriculture, livestock, and manufacturing industries. The courses combine theoretical instruction with practical training, helping participants turn the knowledge and skills they acquire into viable productive projects.
The training courses are scheduled to extend to all localities of Northern State, targeting approximately 1,000 young men and women. The initiative reflects the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports’ focus on investing in young people’s capabilities, linking training to development and production needs, and opening new opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.
The program represents an important step toward building a generation of productive and enterprising young people capable of turning ideas into projects and making use of the resources and potential available in Northern State. It is also expected to contribute to creating new jobs, stimulating the local economy, increasing production, and promoting a culture of entrepreneurship among young people.
A government official in Northern State told “Sudanhorizon” that investing in young people is not merely a short-term training exercise, but an investment in the state’s future.
“Every skill a young person acquires today can become tomorrow a project, a job opportunity, and added value for the economy and society. Every young person who possesses knowledge, skills, and confidence in their ability to produce represents another building block in creating a stronger and more stable future for Northern State,” the official said.
