Tijani Sisi: The Current Situation in Sudan Cannot Tolerate Exclusion
Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Moussa
Dr. Tijani Sisi, head of the National Movement Forces, has stressed that a huge segment of political and social forces in Sudan supports an all inclusive dialogue that leaves no one out.
In an exclusive statement to Sudanhorizon news website, Sisi said that the current situation in the country would not tolerate exclusion, as any exclusion could hinder the implementation of the transitional period, especially since the entire society has become militarized.
He added that “We have previously emphasized that we are against the armed forces having a political base, because this would deprive them of their national character, professionalism, and independence.”
He further stated that it must be emphasized that security reform and issues related to restructuring the Sudanese Armed Force (SAF) and security sector are internal matters pertaining to national sovereignty and Sudanese national security, “therefore, only the Sudanese people have the right to decide on this matter.”
Sisi pointed out that the humanitarian track will remain part of the security track, due to the close relationship between them. He explained that there is another track that was ignored as reflected in the leaked American proposal for a solution in Sudan. He said that this track will undermine the security and peace in the country even after signing of the ceasefire, and it is the social track, which has become more complicated as a result of the widespread violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia in Al-Gezirah, in addition to the war crimes and violations committed by the militia after the fall of Al-Fasher.
He added that these violations led to an escalation in the pace of polarization between social components, which necessitates taking this matter into account in the initiatives seeking to resolve the crisis.
