Sudan’s Ambassador to Germany Describes Berlin Conference as Futil
Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Moussa
Sudan’s Ambassador to Berlin, Ilham Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed, reaffirmed on Tuesday the Sudanese government’s position on rejection of the Berlin Conference on Sudan. She pointed out that the conference chose to ignore inviting the government, its participation, and consultation, and opted to continue using the same approach as previous conferences.
In an exclusive statement Sudanhorizon news website, the ambassador emphasized that any attempt to discuss or make decisions regarding Sudan without the involvement of its government, shall constitutes a violation of Sudanese sovereignty and a breach of established diplomatic norms.
She stressed that bypassing the Sudanese government, which is supported by the vast majority of the Sudanese people, under the pretext of equating the nation-state and its institutions with a terrorist militia, would contribute to undermining the nation-state, encourage the establishment of parallel entities, and render the conference’s deliberations devoid of any practical value if it continues on this unconstructive path. This approach will not lead to achieving peace or stability.
The Ambassador reiterated Sudan’s commitment to a just and sustainable peaceful solution, in accordance with the roadmap presented by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council in March 2025, and the subsequent peace initiative presented by the Prime Minister to the Security Council in December 2025, as a practical framework for achieving peace and stability.
She also welcomed any regional and international efforts that support and complement these initiatives, stressing Sudan’s readiness to engage positively with any serious initiative that respects its sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and the rights of its people.
