Sudanese Foreign Ministry Condemns RSF Crimes and Calls for International Action

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as terrorist crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), labelling the militia as “one of the worst terrorist groups the region has ever seen.” The ministry accused the RSF of engaging in terrorism, genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.
In a statement issued on Saturday and seen by Sudanhorizon, the ministry stressed that mere condemnation of these crimes is insufficient, urging the international community to take effective measures against the RSF and those who supply them with weapons, mercenaries, or provide refuge to their leaders and members.
Recent Attacks by RSF
The statement highlighted several recent incidents:
Attack on Infrastructure:
On Saturday morning, the RSF carried out suicide drone attacks targeting the Shawak Power Station and Gadaref Water Station in eastern Sudan. This led to power outages in Kassala and Gadaref, two major food-producing states that also host large numbers of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees from neighbouring countries. The attack disrupted drinking water services in Gadaref.
Targeting Civilians:
Over the past two days, the RSF killed 20 civilians in the Khiran area of Hasahisa locality, Al-Jazirah State.
On Friday, the RSF shelled the livestock market south of El Fasher using long-range heavy artillery, killing 14 civilians.
In North Darfur, the RSF attacked a civilian convoy travelling between Tawila and Kabkabiya, which was being escorted by forces from the Abdul Wahid al-Nur and Tahir Hajar movements. The RSF killed approximately 120 individuals, most of whom were civilians, in what the statement described as ethnic-based killings.
Cultural Heritage Attack:
The RSF bombarded the Sultan Ali Dinar Museum in El Fasher, causing significant damage to this historic cultural site.
Foreign Ministry’s Call for Action
The statement concluded that the RSF’s actions demonstrate its intent to target the entirety of the Sudanese state—its people, institutions, infrastructure, and cultural landmarks. The ministry reiterated the urgent need for:
International sanctions against the RSF.
Action to halt the supply of weapons and mercenaries to the militia.
Legal accountability for the crimes committed, particularly the ethnic-based killings and destruction of national heritage sites.
The ministry called on the global community to take decisive steps to prevent further escalation and protect Sudan’s civilians and institutions.
