The Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohi El-Din Salem Ahmed, began an official visit to the State of Kuwait on Wednesday, which will continue until August 21. He is acting as an envoy of the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, carrying a message to His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of the State of Kuwait.

The Foreign Minister is accompanied by a delegation that includes the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Amina Mirghani Hassan Al-Tom, and a number of senior state officials, according to the Sudan News Agency.

The message delivered by the Foreign Minister during the visit addresses Sudan’s supportive stance towards the State of Kuwait in the face of the aggression it is experiencing.

The joint talks between the two foreign ministers are scheduled to discuss prospects for bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and develop them, in addition to issues of common interest.

On the economic front, the Minister of Finance will meet with his Kuwaiti counterpart, along with a number of directors of Kuwaiti and Arab funds and financing institutions in Kuwait. Meanwhile, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan will meet with her Kuwaiti counterpart and several directors of financial, banking, and credit institutions to discuss new prospects for banking cooperation and to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two brotherly countries in the coming period.

Sudan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Awad Al-Karim Al-Rayah Balla, told the Sudan News Agency that the visit represents the first high-level official contact in a long time, given the repercussions of the war waged by the Rapid Support Forces militia against Sudan and the tensions witnessed in the Gulf region.

He added that the visit comes within the framework of solidarity and support for Kuwait and aims to revitalize bilateral relations in the political, economic, and trade fields. He noted that despite the interruption of direct communication during the past period, Kuwait has remained present in the Sudanese scene through its continued provision of valuable humanitarian aid, which has had a profound impact on alleviating the suffering of millions of Sudanese during the war.
